Adapt the script instead of just renaming people
- Choose one meaningful change. Move the rehearsal to a school play, make the borrowed hoodie a camera lens, or turn the tutorial boss into a board-game dispute.
- Rewrite the supporting lines. Update the setup and replies so the final reveal still follows logically. Changing names alone does not change the story.
- Check the speakers. Assign every incoming line to the intended participant. The outgoing side represents the phone owner. If you move the birthday guest to the incoming side, rewrite the exchange so its perspective still makes sense.
- Read the first and last messages together. The opening should create a question and the ending should answer it. Keep both visible in the final screenshot.
Turn the script into a paced video
- Open the starter. Choose Edit this script beside the example you want to use.
- Edit the dialogue first. Finish the setup and ending before adjusting the timing.
- Preview the conversation. Read each new message once at a normal pace. If the next bubble arrives too soon, increase the delay before it.
- Shorten unnecessary pauses. Remove a repeated acknowledgment or reduce its delay if it slows the scene down.
- Check the phone-sized preview. Make sure the important messages remain readable, then follow the text-message video tutorial for format and export settings.
The included delays are starting choices, not a promise about audience retention. The texting story library also has timed video examples to watch and remix. Use the writing guide when the dialogue needs another pass.
Questions about using these ideas
Do I have to keep the platform in the preview?
No. The starter uses the shown platform, but you can change the chat style in the editor. Recheck reactions, sender labels, header details, and line wrapping after switching. A scene that fits one layout may need shorter lines in another.
Can I make a still image from a script?
Yes. Open the starter, edit the messages, and choose Download PNG screenshot from Export. The image needs to show both the setup and the payoff; timing notes only matter when you animate it.
Does the tool publish the story for me?
No. Export the result and review it before uploading it wherever you intend to share it. Keep the fictional context clear and use approved identities and assets.
Open the chat video maker when the script is ready for motion.
